- Referring URL and pages visited on our site
- Approximate country, inferred from IP, to choose a default language

- Strictly necessary.A small cookie that stores your cookie-consent choice so we don't ask you again on every page load. This category cannot be disabled.
- Analytics. If you accept, we may use analytics tools to understand which articles are read and how readers move through the site. Off by default.
- Personalised advertising. If you accept, our advertising partners may set cookies to show you ads based on your interests. Off by default. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised.

Third-party advertising
This site is supported by display advertising. Our advertising partners — including Google, via Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager — may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to deliver ads, measure their performance, and (if you consent) personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
We use Google's Consent Mode v2 to communicate your cookie choices to advertising partners. When personalised advertising is declined or you have not yet made a choice, ads on this site are served in non-personalised mode.
You can opt out of personalised advertising independently of our banner by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

Children
Our content is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16, and the site is not directed at them.
Data retention and security
Server logs are retained for a short rolling window (typically under 30 days) for security and abuse prevention. Analytics aggregates are retained for the period needed to measure article performance. We apply industry-standard safeguards to data in transit and at rest, but no internet transmission is ever completely secure.
